The maintenace team at CUMC needs our Help

Posted on Jan 12 2018 - 1:10pm

Calling all Scouts and Scout Families!

Our friends at CUMC ( Christ United Methodist Church ) need our help !

The Maintenance team at CUMC is short-handed these days, they have reached out to the Thunderbirds and Thundercubs  Scout units for help with side-walk snow removal tomorrow morning between 8:30AM - 12:00 . Many of the Scout Parents that help with these sorts of things will likely be at the Winter Campout this weekend.

We need the following:

1)     A parent to coordinate (Troop,Pack,CUMC-team) this Volunteering event tomorrow morning . Who can do this?

2)     We need  youth members and adults who can do the heaving lifting and help with the snow removal  !

Rumors !

  • I heard a rumor that at least some of the folks from the Cub Pack may head to a park nearby for sledding after the snow-removal is done !
  • The Troop committee will cover reasonable costs for Donuts and or Bagels  and Hot chocolate if a Parent can make arrangements to pick these things up !

I am heading to the Winter Camp  around 4PM today

email ASAP if you can provide any assistance with the snow removal at CUMC tommorow morning !

Needed for the Winter COH

Posted on Jan 8 2018 - 5:33am
This has proven to be a great way to add some additional funds to the troop treasury for special projects.
As part of the event, each patrol selects a theme for a patrol Chinese Auction basket. Each scout is asked to bring an item valued at between $5.00 and $10.00 to contribute to the basket. While completing your holiday shopping or looking for bargains after the rush, please consider choosing an item for your scout’s basket. Below you will find the themes chosen by the patrols this year.
Green Bar Patrol: “ Amazon”- Donation of money to be used to purchase an Amazon gift card
Puma: “Get Outside”- toys or games for outside play
Mini Bears: “Snack and Play”- mind or board games with snacks for a night at home
Raiders: “Let’s Eat Out”- gift cards for fast food or location of your choice
Brick Squad: TBD
Lottery Scratch Ticket: In addition to your Chinese Auction item, we are asking each scout and ASM to bring ONE only scratch off ticket ($1, $2, $3, or $5 value) which will be used to make a lottery basket
Pot Luck Desert: Please bring a desert of your choosing to share (homemade or store bought "we love them al)
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or our new Winter COH co-chair, Abby Pagliai.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Jan. 28
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.

Eagle Required Merit Badges offerd

Posted on Jan 8 2018 - 5:30am

If your scout doesn’t have swimming or lifesaving merit badge this is the place to get it.  I have attached all the info below. This is the best place to get the Merit badge before summer camp.  If the boys have the swimming mb before camp then they can take any of the aquatic merit badges. If not then they have to take swimming at camp.  Some boys rather swim in the pool and not the lake.  The choice is yours.  We do not do signups at the troop meeting so you have to do this on your own.  All the info is below.

Fro Mr. Kraska:

There will be a venturing meeting on Tuesday January 9th at 6:00 at CUMC. This is mandatory for everyone in the crew or who wants to participate in crew activities. We will be holding elections for crew officers and discussing the future of Crew 228.  If you don’t attend this meeting then you don’t attend any crew activities for the upcoming year.  See you there.
